Kazakh National Medical University
As one of the oldest and the most reputed medical institutions in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh National Medical University or Kazakh National Medical University has trained over 80 000 doctors across different medical specialties since its inception in 1931. The university is named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, a leading Kazakh scholar and politician of the time. He also happened to be the University’s first rector.
The university was conferred with national status in 2001. Today the university is home to more than 11000 students and 1500 faculty members. The university’s academic wing comprises 200 doctors of science, 130 professors, more than 500 candidates of science, and 15-laureates of State prizes. It is believed that 1 in every 3 medical professionals in Kazakhstan is an alumnus of Kazakh National Medical University.
