As one of the oldest and the most reputed medical institutions in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh National Medical University or Kazakh National Medical University has trained over 80 000 doctors across different medical specialties since its inception in 1931. The university is named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, a leading Kazakh scholar and politician of the time. He also happened to be the University’s first rector.

The university was conferred with national status in 2001. Today the university is home to more than 11000 students and 1500 faculty members. The university’s academic wing comprises 200 doctors of science, 130 professors, more than 500 candidates of science, and 15-laureates of State prizes. It is believed that 1 in every 3 medical professionals in Kazakhstan is an alumnus of Kazakh National Medical University.

    Eligibility Criteria: Kazakh National Medical University

     

    MBBS aspirants must fulfill the following criteria to pursue the 5-year MBBS program at Kazakh National Medical University:

    1. The candidate must be at least 17 years of age
    2. Candidate must have completed 12th standard from an English medium school
    3. The candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
    4. Candidate must have appeared for NEET qualification exam

    Admission Intake: Kazakh National Medical University

    MBBS aspirants can either opt for summer or winter intakes. Ideally, students prefer summer intakes i.e between September – October. The admission process for the same starts in April. Invitation letters are sent to selected candidates within 2-3 weeks. Hence, it is always wise to start the application as early as possible.

     

    Those students who for some reason fail to apply for the summer intake can enroll in January / February i.e. the winter intakes. Fewer candidates apply for winter intakes. Consequently,  the Visa Process has less waiting time, and the batch strength is also smaller than summer intakes.

    MBBS Duration at Kazakh National Medical University

     

    Kazakh National Medical University offers a 5-years MBBS course. During the duration of the course, students learn about basic medical sciences as well as clinical studies. Here’s a small overview of  different subjects that students learn during the duration of their course:

    First Year – The first year of the course is Pre-clinical and offers students a holistic view of the History of Medicine, Histology, Medical Biology, Human Anatomy,  Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, and Genetics.

    Second Year – The second-year of the course covers non-clinical subjects and research-oriented topics such as Pharmacology, Pathology, and Microbiology. Students learn in detail about Virology, Immunology, Biochemistry,  Normal Physiology, General Surgery, Economics, and Logics.

    Third Year – The third-year course covers para-clinical subjects such as  Pathology, Physiology, and Path Physiology. Students also learn about Microbiology, Pharmacology, Radiology, General Surgery (with Operative Surgery and Topographical Anatomy), etc.

    Fourth Year – The fourth-year is focused on  Medical legislation, medical psychology, Forensic Medicine, Psychiatry, Narcology,  Physiotherapy, Medical genetics, General Surgery, Emergency Neurology and Psychiatry, Medicine of extraordinary situations, etc.

    Fifth Year – The fifth-year course covers Clinical pharmacology,  Surgery, children’s surgery, and Oncology, Infectious diseases, Fundamentals of Dentistry,  Internal Medicine, Professional diseases, children’s infectious diseases, Neurosurgery, Paediatrics Surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, etc.
