Named after one of the wealthiest cities in imperial China, the Yangzhou University was established in 1902. At the time, a total of six colleges were merged to form the now globally renowned university.
From the six colleges that formed the union, the college of Medicine Yangzhou University evolved out of Yangzhou Medical College, which started as Subei Health School in 1958. The School of Medicine of Yangzhou University also happens to be the first medical school in China to introduce Gynecology and Obstetrics.
Currently, the Yangzhou University offers 110 undergraduate courses across 12 disciplines. The University is also home to a large community of international students. The medical department has over 1000+ students with 189+ academic staff. Most of the teachers hold a Ph.D. or equivalent teachers. The teacher-student ratio is 1:11 which is simply the best among the top-ranked medical institutes in the country.
